Big Guy's Ranch & Saloon at 200 Meadowood Dr in Winnipeg offers a full-service dining experience blending hearty, comfort-food classics with a casual bar atmosphere. The space strikes a balance between a laid-back local hangout and a family-friendly restaurant, making it a solid pick for various occasions, whether a casual midweek dinner or a relaxed weekend meal with friends and family.

The menu leans into generous portions of North American favorites with a Texas flair—think fajitas, chicken fried steak paired with sweet potato fries, and baby back ribs served alongside fries and coleslaw. If you’re after something lighter, salads like the classic Caesar or a Mexican Salad served in a tortilla shell add some freshness to the lineup. Fans of burgers will find a range of options from the straightforward charbroiled Alamo Burger to the more loaded Big Guy Burger topped with bacon and cheese. The kitchen also delivers solid bar snacks and starters such as Cajun wings and small nachos, which complement the casual saloon vibe.

The service here tends to stand out, with guests frequently noting friendly and attentive staff who make the dining experience feel relaxed yet well cared for. Visitors often arrive early evening or on quieter weekend afternoons, times when the atmosphere is calm and servers have the opportunity to offer attentive, unhurried service. Far from a flashy nightlife spot, it’s more of a comfortable place where locals catch up over filling plates and generous drinks.

Big Guy's appeals especially to those who appreciate straightforward, comforting meals served in large portions without fuss. It’s also welcoming to larger groups and families, thanks to the sizable seating area and a menu that caters to a range of tastes and appetites. Whether you’re craving classic beef dip sandwiches, chicken stir fry, or something more indulgent like chili cheese fries, this spot offers familiar flavors done well, set in a warm, unpretentious environment.

Overall, Big Guy’s Ranch & Saloon fits nicely within Winnipeg’s dining scene for anyone looking for solid, home-style meals at fair prices, paired with the kind of service that makes you want to return. It’s less about trendy food and more about dependable, satisfying comfort food delivered with friendly local hospitality.

What an incredible restaurant. The service was great. The food was absolutely incredible!! The very best fajitas I have ever had. Portions are incredible and you won’t leave here hungry. Love the atmosphere too. If you have a nut allergy there are no nuts in the restaurant. Definitely a restaurant you want to go to over and over. If you are looking for a great meal look no further!!!

Big Guy's has been my favourite restaurant in the city for the last decade. The service is consistently fantastic. Every member of the staff I've interacted with over the years has always been so friendly and genuine. Sabrina and Nate both stand out as having exceptionally welcoming and positive attitudes every time I've had the pleasure of seeing them. The food is fantastic and very fairly priced given the quality and portions that they serve. I'll continue coming here for years to come. A well earned 5 stars!

We came here around 3pm on a Sunday afternoon and had the place to ourselves. Our waiter was wonderful guys very friendly. I wish I could remember his name. Of course we can't speak to the service on a busy day, but the service we experienced was great. The food was nice. Not "wow" but nice and a good price. My chili burger was very tasty. Ribs were tasty but not "best ever" good.

Was thrilled with the food (taste/quality/sizing), experience, service, and 'reasonable' pricing. 10/10. This place is a rare phenomenal gem in the terrible modern restaurant landscape of Winnipeg. So disappointed with 90% of places these days. This restaurant though was incredible, totally compares to excellent places like Olympia Diner and such!

Came in with a large party looking to get our belts sufficiently busted. I can say wholeheartedly that this was the case— No belts were spared during this dining experience. Had the chicken fried steak, and yes, it is steak made like fried chicken. It was absurdly large, but sadly somewhat bland. Added some salt and pepper and this helped. Had the baked potato with it and it could have used a little bit of oil and salt on the skin to crisp it up a bit better. Beer was well priced, but the service made the experience. Joyous and attentive, our waitress ensured that we had the proper Big Guys experience. We got to shake hands with the Big Guy (owner) himself on the way out and he thoroughly recommended the cajun chicken for our next visit. The decor was very appropriate for the title, Ranch and Saloon. It was a fun experience, but I would not recommend making further plans after visiting Big Guys, as you will need to go comatose for a bit after.
